Yes, the certificate isn’t just for HERSPACE. You can also apply with it at other studios in Germany and internationally

  • You can send a person that is taking over your spot
  • You can postpone your training and join one of our next teacher training courses

There’s no single, globally binding certification in Pilates, Reformer, or Barre that every studio in every country automatically recognizes. Studios decide for themselves which training, content, and hours they expect from their trainers.

If one of our graduates applies to a studio in New York or London that hasn’t heard of HERSPACE yet, what matters most is how thorough and hands-on the training was, and how much real teaching experience the trainer brings. That’s exactly why we put so much weight on a transparent curriculum and a high amount of practical experience.

The teacher training will be conducted in english.

Yes! We love working students 🩵 Teaching combines wonderfully with studying – taking legal requirements and your total working hours into account, you can even teach quite regularly with us, building a nice additional income with comparatively few hours. Teaching alongside a full-time job is generally possible too, as long as it’s compatible with your main employer and working-time regulations.

A qualified member of the HERSPACE team, e.g. a studio manager or one of our Academy experts.

Registration is binding. If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to send a substitute person; in case of illness, the module can be made up at a later date.

Depending on the teacher training, this includes:

Anatomy & Movement Science, Functional Anatomy & Biomechanics, Pilates Principles & Alignment, Barre Principles & Technique, Exercise Library from beginner to advanced, Reformer Technique & Equipment Handling, Cueing & Coaching Skills, Teaching Methodology, Hands-on Corrections, Class Design & Sequencing, Musicality & Rhythm in Barre Training, Safety & Contraindications, Observation of experienced teachers, practice teaching with real groups, individual feedback, and final exam.

We want studios to see more than just the HERSPACE Academy name on a certificate. We want them to see the knowledge and experience behind it.

During the Academy, you’ll already observe, practice, and teach yourself – so we get to know you and your teaching well before you graduate. That’s why Academy graduates are given priority for open trainer positions, and many of our Munich studios are staffed with trainers who trained with us. We can’t guarantee automatic hiring, as it depends on your teaching, passing the exam, and matching available slots – but our clear goal is to bring strong graduates into our team long-term.

We don’t hand out certificates after a single weekend. Our teacher trainings typically run over three to six months, combining intensive in-person weekends with practice phases and self-study.

That includes 30 hours of observation with experienced trainers, self-study, developing your own class formats, and individual feedback from our instructors.

The most important part is real teaching practice. Our participants teach their own classes during the training and log 15 hours of teaching experience with real groups before their final exam. So they’ve already stood in front of real classes before they’re tested, not just after.

That hands-on focus is a big reason many participants choose HERSPACE, and it’s a real advantage when applying to other studios later on.

You don’t need extensive prior knowledge, but you should be familiar with the discipline you’d like to teach (Barre/Mat Pilates/Reformer Pilates), along with an adequate fitness level to follow the training effectively.

HERSPACE Academy is an independent training provider with its own comprehensive curriculum. Our content is built on professional standards from vocational and academic programs in movement, training, and education.

The training was designed by HERSPACE founder Britta Degenkolbe, who brings 25 years of teaching experience and twelve years of her own professional development. Her goal was to bring that knowledge into a modern, hands-on teacher training program.

As a starter, you’ll receive €30 net per class taught – regardless of the number of participants. Depending on your employment model, payment is processed through us, and of course you’re insured through HERSPACE during your work with us.

The 50 hours refer to the intensive in-person format of a teacher training retreat, compact and condensed over several days to a few weeks.

The 150h training is the more comprehensive path, with additional practice, observation, teaching, and self-study components spread over several months.

So the difference isn’t that one certificate is recognized and the other isn’t. It’s about scope, depth, and proven teaching experience.

We train the trainers we’d want to hire ourselves at HERSPACE. Our graduates should feel confident teaching in our studios and representing our standard of quality. That’s why we train every participant thoroughly enough that we’d trust them with our own classes after graduation.

Our goal isn’t handing out as many certificates as possible. It’s training the best trainers. HERSPACE training combines solid expertise with personal mentoring, observation, real teaching practice, and a demanding final exam, making it one of the most comprehensive and hands-on ways to train as a Pilates, Reformer, or Barre teacher today.
