frequently
asked questions
Are training materials (e.g. a manual) provided?
We have our own online learning area that we share with you. There you’ll find online courses with plenty of expert knowledge and videos for reference.
How much will I earn teaching as a Reformer trainer at HERSPACE after the Teacher Academy?
Depending on your employment model, payment is processed through us, and of course you’re insured through HERSPACE during your work with us. As a starter, you’ll receive €25 net per class taught – regardless of the number of participants.
What will I learn in the training?
Our training content is designed so that the skills acquired are transparent and comprehensible for other studios and in an international context.
Depending on the teacher training, this includes for example:
- Anatomy & Training Philosophy
- Pilates Principles & Alignment
- Exercise Library from Beginner to Advanced
- Cueing & Teaching Skills
- Class Design & Sequencing
- Safety & Contraindications
- Observation of experienced teachers
- Practice teaching with real groups
- Development of your own lesson plans
- Individual feedback and final exam
Why does the training run over several months?
Our goal is not to issue a certificate after a single weekend. We want to train teachers who can truly teach with confidence and competence afterwards.
That’s why our comprehensive teacher trainings usually span three to six months. In addition to intensive in-person weekends, the training includes extensive practice and self-study phases.
Among other things, our participants complete 30 hours of observation with experienced teachers. This is complemented by self-study, developing their own lesson plans and class concepts, and the opportunity to discuss these with our trainers and receive individual feedback.
A particularly important component is real teaching practice: our participants already teach their own classes during the training. In total, they gain 15 hours of practical teaching experience with real groups before they can successfully complete their training.
This means our graduates don’t take their exam without ever having stood in front of a group. They go into their exam with real teaching experience.
This high practical component is a deciding factor for many participants in choosing the HERSPACE Academy – and a great added value when applying to other studios later on.
In which language does the teacher training take place?
Since we want to make participation possible for as many women as possible, the training is held in English.
What does "internationally recognized" actually mean?
There’s no single, globally binding certification in Pilates, Reformer, or Barre that every studio in every country automatically recognizes. Studios decide for themselves which training, content, and hours they expect from their trainers.
If one of our graduates applies to a studio in New York or London that hasn’t heard of HERSPACE yet, what matters most is how thorough and hands-on the training was, and how much real teaching experience the trainer brings. That’s exactly why we put so much weight on a transparent curriculum and a high amount of practical experience.
What happens if I get sick?
Attendance at all three training weekends is mandatory.
Of course, we know that unforeseen situations can sometimes arise. If you’re unable to attend at short notice for an important reason, the missed weekend must be made up at the next teacher training.
In case you can’t attend the academy at all, you can send a person that is taking over your spot.
In this case, please inform our Academy team as early as possible.
Will I be taken on by HERSPACE after successfully completing the training?
During the Academy, you’ll already observe, practice, and teach yourself – so we get to know you and your teaching well before you graduate. That’s why Academy graduates are given priority for open trainer positions, and many of our Munich studios are staffed with trainers who trained with us. We can’t guarantee automatic hiring, as it depends on your teaching, passing the exam, and matching available slots – but our clear goal is to bring strong graduates into our team long-term.
Why do you hold yourselves to such a high standard?
We train the trainers we’d want to hire ourselves at HERSPACE. Our graduates should feel confident teaching in our studios and representing our standard of quality. That’s why we train every participant thoroughly enough that we’d trust them with our own classes after graduation.
Our goal isn’t handing out as many certificates as possible. It’s training the best trainers. HERSPACE training combines solid expertise with personal mentoring, observation, real teaching practice, and a demanding final exam, making it one of the most comprehensive and hands-on ways to train as a Pilates, Reformer, or Barre teacher today.
Is payment in installments possible?
Yes, you can pay the fee in four installments. If you’re interested in paying in installments, please contact academy@thegoodones.info directly.
Who conducts the exam?
For the final exam, you teach a regular class with real participants plus one of our experts at our studio. After the session you will get Feedback about your teaching.Â
Can I teach alongside my working-student job or a full-time position?
Yes! We love working students 🩵 Teaching combines wonderfully with studying – taking legal requirements and your total working hours into account, you can even teach quite regularly with us, building a nice additional income with comparatively few hours. Teaching alongside a full-time job is generally possible too, as long as it’s compatible with your main employer and working-time regulations.
Is the HERSPACE Reformer, Pilates & Barre training internationally recognized?
In the Pilates, Reformer, and Barre field, there is no single globally binding certification that is automatically recognized by every studio in every country. Studios decide for themselves which training and how many hours they expect from their teachers.
If one of our graduates applies, for example, to a studio in New York or London that doesn’t yet know HERSPACE, what matters most is how comprehensive and practice-oriented the training was and how much real teaching experience she brings. That’s why we place so much value on a transparent curriculum and a high practical component.
Can I cancel my registration for the training?
Registration is binding. If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to send a substitute person; in case of illness, the module can be made up at a later date.
What's the difference between 50h and 150h?
The 50 hours refer to the intensive training and in-person component of the respective training – delivered in a very compact and intensive format as a teacher training retreat, where we spend several days to weeks together learning.
The 150h training represents the much more comprehensive training path. In addition to the training modules, it includes additional practice, observation, teaching, and self-study components.
The 150h certificate therefore documents not just participation in a training, but a training process lasting several months, with in-depth expertise and real teaching experience.
So the difference is not that one certificate is “internationally recognized” and the other “not recognized.” The difference lies in scope, depth, and proven practical experience.
Do I need any previous knowledge to join the academy?
You don’t need extensive prior knowledge, but you should be familiar with the discipline you’d like to teach (Barre/Mat Pilates/Reformer Pilates), along with an adequate fitness level to follow the training effectively.
